Some participants run for more than just a medal and Kimberlee James is one of them!
We caught up with avid runner Kimberlee James just before she took on the 13.1 miles at this year’s Llanelli Half Marathon. Kimberlee said:
“I ran in memory of my friend Amy Padley who took her own life in 2022. The “Our Amy” Foundation has been set up by her family, lots of Amy’s family and friends will be taking part in lots of events to raise awareness and money for the foundation.”
Kimberlee has also committed to take part in the Ironman 70.3 Swansea in 2024, despite her not being able to swim! Kimberlee added:
” I am learning to swim, and doing it for Amy is my motivation, raising awareness of suicide and supporting families and friends affected by the devastation of losing a loved one to suicide. I had so many lovely comments from other runners about how the writing on my top got them through the race, and that’s what we want to achieve.”
“We want people to know the world is a better place with them in it.”
